On January 17^th, the Broward Chapter along with the Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers met with Senator Jeff Atwater (R) District 25.

On December 18^th,  2007 the Broward Chapter and Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers met with Representative Adam Hasner, Majority Leader in the Florida House of Representatives, from  District 87. Rep. Hasner expressed his gratitude for our support in the past. He  furthermore thanked Sidney F Weigner,CMC, CRMS,  our Government Chair, for his  input on potential pending legislation. We addressed the current speculation  that FS 494 could be re-opened this session, which Rep. Hasner did not confirm.  He did however assure us his support if FS 494 would be looked at again, to  ensure a fair and just outcome. FS 494 was just recently amended; its changes went into affect October 1, 2007.

Viktoria Bloom (PAC Chair) & Rep. Jim Waldman

Viktoria Bloom (PAC Chair) met with Rep. Jim Waldman of District 95 on Nov. 27th to present him with The FAMB Broward Chapter's donation to his campaign fund.

They spoke briefly and Viktoria was able to convey the FAMB position on HR 3915. They discussed what YSP is, and how it plays into the mortgage industry. They furthermore discussed the importance of loan options to consumers, including hard money and section 32 loans.

Rep. Jim Waldman revealed that he used to hold a Florida Realtors and Mortgage Brokers license.

Rep Waldman agreed to speak at our events, and Viktoria is currently awaiting a firm date.

Jim is on the Committee on Financial Institutions and could play a vital role in future legislation.

On behalf of the Broward FAMB Chapter, on Nov 19th, Sid Weigner, Government Affairs Chair, Susan Ellingsworth, President Elect, and Viktoria Bloom, PAC Chair met with House Representative Ellyn Bogdanoff, District 91 to present her with a donation to her campaign fund.

The meeting went very successful and promising. Rep. Bogdanoff expressed great interest in our industry's concerns and issues. We discussed the potential impact of HR 3915 to consumers and the industry in general.

Rep. Bogdanoff will welcome us in Tallahassee during our Lobby Days in March 2008 and will speak to our Chapter in future meetings.
